ABOUTCOMMUNITY
Nurse Maude
We have a personal endeavor to help out those less fortunate than ourselves.
Nurse Maude provides nursing and home support services to more than 400,000 people.
As a charitable organisation, they rely on donations and legacies for support. We’ve donated numerous chairs and tables to Nurse Maude and hope that this small contribution will help them in their continued support of the sick and elderly in our community. So, if you’re in a buying mood you should check out Nurse Maude on trade me with all of their auctions starting at $1 reserve, visit ‘Maude’s on Trade Me’.
Having lost both a father and brother to cancer, the Daffodil Day cancer appeal is something, which John and Annmaree feel very strongly about donating to each year. For the one in three people affected by cancer in NZ, donations such as this on Daffodil Day can symbolise some hope. Donations go towards vital scientific research into the causes and treatment of all types of cancer, as well as providing a wide range of support services, education and awareness. Supporting Artists
We recently met the installation artist Pete Majendie. His compassion and talent led him to create the ‘185 chairs’ memorial to those lost in the 2011 earthquake. It has received huge public support resulting in a moving response from many. We feel fortunate to be able to help replace chairs damaged or stolen due to vandalism for this, and hope to see it stay on Madras street for the future. With the loss of many galleries and spaces to exhibit, his new project ‘quiet spaces’ is adding interest to the Christchurch landscape. Keep an eye out for the small interactive houses made of cardboard around the city. Go in, sit down… and reflect.
